I haven’t been back to Ecuador since 2021

I was surprised when I realized that.

Over 100 YouTube videos so many blog posts came out of that country. For years it was the place I pointed people to first.

But after that I went off for a short trip to Indonesia that turned into years of exploring Asia.

Then I was drawn to other parts of Latin America. I wanted to show people Colombia, Mexico and Cuba because I felt like those were the places people needed convincing to visit.

Ecuador already had my heart, so I let it sit while I worked on everywhere else.

My videos have always been about making places feel approachable enough to actually visit. I want people to feel comfortable and also support the local economy where tourism dollars really matter.

And in 2027 I want to take that further.

I am already working with local guides on upcoming tours in Vietnam and Cuba. And running one in Ecuador makes so much sense.

With these tours I can share what I love in person instead of through a screen.

Why People Fall in Love with Ecuador

Spring Like Weather All Year

Quito, Cuenca and much of the Andes sit at an elevation that keeps temperatures mild year round. Days are comfortable and nights are cool enough for a sweater.

You never have to plan your trip around a season because the weather barely changes from month to month.

Incredible Diversity in a Small Country

Few countries pack this much into such a small space.

Within a single day’s drive you can go from snow capped volcanoes to cloud forest, from Pacific beaches to the edge of the Amazon, from a colonial city to a highland Indigenous market.

And that’s all before you even factor in the Galapagos.

Nature That’s Easy to Experience

Even leaving the Galapagos aside, Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse countries on earth.

Hummingbirds, toucans, waterfalls, hot springs and volcanoes are all so close to the places you’d already be staying.

You don’t need a week long expedition to see wildlife here, sometimes it’s right outside your hotel window.

Kind People and Rich Indigenous Culture

I love the energy of neighboring Colombia but Ecuadorians are more reserved. Sometimes people mistake that as unfriendly but if you smile first and greet them you'll always get one in return.

I've had sincere conversations in markets, restaurants and street vendors. The Indigenous culture in the highlands is still very much alive rather than something staged for tourists.

Great Value

Prices have gone up since I first visited, but Ecuador still stretches further than most of North America or Europe.

Boutique hotels, fresh seafood, guided adventures and eating out remain surprisingly affordable. And the artisans create stunning work for fair prices.

You can travel well here without watching every dollar.

Authentic Food

People are always surprised by Ecuadorian food. Fresh seafood on the coast, hearty Andean dishes in the highlands and tropical fruit from the Amazon mean every region has its own flavor.

This tiny country has 4500 distinct types of soup, only second to China in its soup diversity.

Adventure Without Feeling Overwhelming

I am a soft adventurer. You can hike around a volcano, soak in a hot spring, watch surfers, wander an Indigenous market or head into the Amazon without months of planning.
